<br />
This week's Monday post is on Tuesday. Monday was the start of the new term for me and so I was pretty busy and didn't have spare time to post. It still counts for Monday though! It's kind of half assed but I'm exhausted. <br />
<br />
I'm going to be doing less reviews and long posts for a while. It's hard to find the motivation to type something here after finishing typing an hour long paper. A majority of my posts will be GSL related with a review or something interesting thrown in every week or so. And Mondayish updates too.<br />
<br />
Maybe I should call these Mondayish updates. Anyways...<br />
<br />
<u><b>Up and coming</b></u><br />
GSL season 4 started on Jan. 2nd. The round of 32 will last about two weeks. I'm not sure if I should post the daily winners or post everything after the round is finished. Maybe weekly.<br />
<br />
I will try to post part 4 of TIWIKWIFSB tomorrow. That's a dumb acronym, I know, and I'm not telling what it stands for! <br />
<br />
That's pretty much it for now.SpringyBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01418638560295776125noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5390020861715664351.post-22974626484136265902010-12-31T20:29:00.000-08:002011-05-30T18:37:55.486-07:00Things I wish I knew when I first started blogging. (Part 3)First off, I'd like to wish everyone a happy new year. After I finish writing this I plan on opening a bottle and leaving lots of drunken comments on all your blogs. <3 I've been busy a bunch lately with all the holidays and getting everything taken care of for college. New term starts on Monday, so after that I will be back to my regular posting and stuff. Anyways, on to the point of the post.<br />
<br />
This time I'm going talk advertising on your blog. Specifically, the different types of ads, different ad companies I've used, and what type of ads are best for the type of traffic your blog gets. <br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<b><u>CPM</u></b><br />
CPM ads are ads that pay just to be shown on your pages. They'll have a set price that's on a per thousand impression basis. A CPM ad with a CPR of $5.00 will earn you 5 dollars after 1,000 impressions, gaining fractions of that amount for each one. Whether or not they're clicked on makes no difference on the amount you earn, all the matters is you have enough traffic to make CPM ads worthwhile. They can be anywhere from 50 cents to 10 dollars CPR but the average starting one is about 2 dollars.<br />
<br />
<u><b>CPC</b></u><br />
CPC ads are ads they pay every time someone clicks them and are probably the most common type. Most advertising companies that don't have minimum requirements run CPC ads, Google and Adbrite are some exceptions. They're entirely based on how many people click the ad and can pay anywhere from a few cents to 5 dollars per click, averaging about $1.50.<br />
<br />
<u><b>CPA</b></u><br />
CPA ads are ads that only pay out if they get the desired result. There are ads that only pay if the target buys something or if they sign up for an account ect. You might have seen Net-flicks advertisements that say "sign up using this special code to receive a discount!" but it's actually a reference code so they pay the right person for the referral. This is usually a bad option for webpages because it puts all the pressure on you to sell whatever it is. Unless you're an internet star and can influence people, it's better to stay away from these. CPA ads can pay a certain percentage of the sale or a flat rate of $25+ dollars.<br />
<br />
<u><b>What advertising types are best for my website?</b></u><br />
Choosing the right type of ads can be difficult. Usually, companies are dedicated to a specific type of advertising so you have to sign up with the ones offering the type you want. (There are a few exceptions such as Google Adsense and Adbrite)<br />
<br />
If most of your traffic consists of first time visitors or gets most it's views from search engines, than CPC is probably a good choice. Visitors from search engines usually read the page they entered from and than leave and don't generate enough impressions for CPM ads.<br />
<br />
If your site's traffic is mostly return viewers than CPM advertising is probably best. People tend to only click an ad one time, even if the content interests them. If you clicked an ad you were interested in, why would you click it again the next time you saw it? CPM lets you get the most out of return viewers because even if they don't care about it, you can show them the same ad over and over and still make something. Another reason is, even if the same person did click the ad again and again, CPM advertisements will disable earnings that come from the same IP address if they catch it repeating. Blogger users usually fall into this trap because they have repeat readers by nature. If you've been having earnings cut OR have been banned from Adsense through no fault of your own, this is usually why.<br />
<br />
Your setup has effect on what ads you'll want as well. Does your site have lots of pages that require your readers to navigate a bit to read what they want? Then CPM is good for you because you'll get lots of impressions but also because readers tend not to stay on the page long enough to see a CPC ad if they're clicking through to get to what they need.<br />
<br />
On the other hand, if your site has few pages with lots to read or if all your content is on your home page, then CPM works well. If your readers stay on one page for a few minutes then they'll notice the ads.<br />
<br />
So, part 4 will be cover some of the basic advertising companies. It was going to be part of part 3 but I've had like 4 shots since I started typing and I am in no condition to be offering advice.<br />
<br />
Happy new years! :DSpringyBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01418638560295776125noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5390020861715664351.post-35776007223426209162010-12-30T22:39:00.000-08:002010-12-31T02:45:38.596-08:00How to tell if you're bad at WoWWhen you're level 85 with 83,000HP and you camp the level 80 characters at the intro area and one kills you.<br />

It was developed by Frictional Games for the PC and Mac. It's plays a bit like an adventure/explorer game but it's main focus is it's horror theme and survival. You play as a man named Daniel who wakes up with complete memory loss inside of a creepy old castle. The main goal of the game is to figure out where you are and figure out the reason for your memory loss, as well as survive.<br />
<br />
This game is amazingly scary. The graphics and environment do a great job of making you feel on edge and never giving you that "safe" feeling other games do to let you calm down. The main character is slowly losing his mind, and it does a very good job at showing it.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
EVEN IF YOU TOTALLY SKIP READING THIS, WATCH THIS VIDEO. It will describe the game in 40 seconds. Very minor scare spoilers in the video, it's not major but you might want to avoid watching it if you happen to be mid playthrough.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIRo0iT0qNw#t=2m02s" target="new">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIRo0iT0qNw#t=2m02s</a><br />
<br />
Even though it's an over the top reaction, yes, the game really is that scary.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Storyline</b></u><br />
The main theme of the storyline has a lot to do with what Daniel doesn't remember so it would be extremely easy to spoil the whole thing. This summary is going to be very vague because that's the way it's presented to you as you play.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii_a4Kp_VRHBFbgQwN9z8S4PaAXHSd8jF4nqgMN9giKUfdzJcXr530yH5oFuvMA8R5lH57Gyx6OEzu66zTVP9Qlgwrgsf757bdcM1Y4n35fklKTP8DkI0HB4DrrAsbXMU81-b9S7V7v2vl/s1600/Amnesia_The_Dark_Desent1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEii_a4Kp_VRHBFbgQwN9z8S4PaAXHSd8jF4nqgMN9giKUfdzJcXr530yH5oFuvMA8R5lH57Gyx6OEzu66zTVP9Qlgwrgsf757bdcM1Y4n35fklKTP8DkI0HB4DrrAsbXMU81-b9S7V7v2vl/s320/Amnesia_The_Dark_Desent1.jpg" width="320" /></a>As the game starts, the main character Daniel is stumbling through a hallway muttering seemingly nonsensical things to himself before collapsing. When he comes to, his memory is completely gone. He has no idea where he is or what he's doing. The only clue is a trail of strange liquid that Daniel decides to follow. It leads him to a desk where he finds a note that was written by his "former self" before he lost his memory. It tells Daniel that the memory loss was his own choice and instructs him to kill a man named Alexander. It also warns Daniel that he is being followed by a shadow, and he needs to escape it as long as possible or it will kill him.<br />
<br />
And that's the simplest way to describe the premise of the game. Remember what happened, kill Alexander, and survive. It's a lot more gripping than I can make it out to be, the storyline is what pushed me to finish the game.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Gameplay</b></u><br />
This game has your basic first person adventure game play style. If you've played any first person game on PC then you already know how to play it, there's not much core difference. What makes the game unique are the features that go along with it.<br />
<br />
Right from the start of the game, you're warned about staying in darkness. Any time you're in an area that isn't lighted, Daniel will slowly go insane. In order to keep places lit, you use tinderboxes that are scattered about the castle to rekindle lights. You also carry around a lantern for areas where there's nothing to light. Staying out of the darkness isn't a huge problem, except that lighting up areas means you don't have anywhere to hide. In most cases, light will attract any monsters that happen to be near.<br />
<br />
As well as staying in the dark, witnessing unsettling events will also make Daniel lose is sanity.You can't really describe what exactly counts as an unsettling event, but you'll know it when you see one. Also, looking at monsters will make you go insane very quick. When this game makes you hide, it literally makes you respond like a person in panic would. You have to run away into a dark place and duck down and cover your eyes and just hope the monster didn't manage to follow you into your corner. Also it should be noted that there is absolutely no way to fight the monsters, you HAVE to run and hide.<br />
<br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjofqex_PnbYafIVWnJHAoOUfq2Q3vS5ewXDA-0d_Nm2n9UmzBs1_rMkrKh6hMkh6w4291FIBVHYS2iFa05a8s21VHRDYF8wMJxES_LVli3iVqh7pWuQne35OXUkRo3RkuppdnoHAn7YiFx/s1600/Amnesia_The_Dark_Desent2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjofqex_PnbYafIVWnJHAoOUfq2Q3vS5ewXDA-0d_Nm2n9UmzBs1_rMkrKh6hMkh6w4291FIBVHYS2iFa05a8s21VHRDYF8wMJxES_LVli3iVqh7pWuQne35OXUkRo3RkuppdnoHAn7YiFx/s320/Amnesia_The_Dark_Desent2.JPG" width="320" /></a>Losing your sanity will do bad things to Daniel. As he goes insane, strange things will start to happen in the game that normally wouldn't. Cockroaches will start to crawl on your screen, pictures on the walls will look distorted and hellish, and the walls will start "creeping". The heavier effect of going insane is imaging monsters that aren't really there. They will react and behave like normal monsters, but vanish just before catching you. After your sanity is completely gone, Daniel will fall over and be stunned for a good while, which is obviously fatal if it happens in the wrong place. Also, the lower your sanity the easier it is for monsters to find you. <br />
<br />
The game also has a very unique physics engine. The game responds to how fast you moves things. You're able to slowly open doors to peek through, or slam it open quickly depending on how you move the mouse. Round objects roll and respond to gravity, you can throw a rock at a barrel and it will fall over and roll down stairs. I know it sounds lame on paper but it's actually very intriguing. <br />
<br />
<u><b>Graphics</b></u><br />
The system requirements are low but the graphics are actually good. It's hard to analyze modern games because they all have "good" graphics. What really makes the graphics stand out though is the way the game uses them to create light and darkness. The areas are designed well and have a lot of depth, you can tell the walls were designed by area instead of using a paintbrush effect to use one pattern over and over.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Sound</b></u><br />
Normally this would be about the music in the game, except Amnesia doesn't have a lot of music that stood out. The only songs I remember ever hearing were in this main area with a fountain and at the end of the game.<br />
<br />
Instead, this will be on the sound effects. This game really shines here as the way the creators used their sounds is the main reason why this game can put you on edge. A lot of horror games like to keep the sounds quiet and the randomly scream at you to get cheap jump reactions at the player. Amnesia has sound effects going constantly that are just creepy in nature. <br />
<br />
<u><b>Conclusion</b></u><br />
All in all, this is by far the most scary game I've played in my life. I've tackled games like Silent Hill and Siren, and Amnesia was the only game that would get to me to the point where I didn't even want to play it. I don't mean just take a break for the day after an intense part, I mean there were times where I didn't even want to load the game up. I can honestly say that if the game didn't have such an intriguing storyline that I wouldn't have even bothered to finish the game.<br />

Uh, yep.Nobody suggested a title for this Monday. Oh wells. Christmas is over with so it's back to regular postings. <br />
<br />
I got some pajamas and some other clothes for Christmas. I haven't had pajamas since I was 12, they're awesome. I also got Cataclysm. I'm not sure if my first impressions are good or not. My main is a paladin and every expansion Blizzard redesigns the class and I don't feel like relearning everything.<br />
<br />
Flying around Azeroth and riding seahorses is cool though. The new area is really pretty but swimming plus fighting gets annoying. I like how no one even tries to PvP in the water.<br />
<br />
Anyways!<br />
<br />
I still have my Review of Amnesia coming up, I would have done it before Christmas but it took longer to get screen shots than I thought it would <strike>because I was scared</strike>. Part 3 of the blogging tips is coming too. It'll talk about advertising types and companies and whatnot.<br />

How was your Christmas, everybody?<br /><br />This entry is just going to be a short one, I'm just showcasing one of the final draft designs of Pixel, or rather a draft of a full body version of her.<br /><br />Pixel is a ninja assassin pixie who has been shunned and outcast from the pixie society for being different, she has a morbid sense of humor and is very unlike pixies. Plus she's mischievous and gets into all sorts of trouble. So basically she's made it her personal goal to seek out a vendetta against her own pixie kind and slaughter as many as she can in as many creative ways as she can. It's a concept for a game/comic that I'm working on.<br /><br /><br />Note: She's not nude, that's her attire. Instead I've been buffing up my artwork for both Springy's blog (this one) and my own blog, <a href="http://killthepixie.blogspot.com/">KillThePixie</a>. Unlike Springy I'm no good at the advertising and social aspect side of blogging, so my blog basically just leeches viewers off his.<br />
<br />
Anyway, I've updated my 'posted by' image for this blog and the general theme, style, banner, etc for my own site. I'll be updating Springy's banner as well at some point, just to make it slightly more aesthetically pleasing. The theme of it is great, and the dice will stay the same... but the text and the spacing of it could use a bit of an overhaul.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
The games I've played this week are:<br />
<br />
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Goo">World of Goo</a>: This is an addictive game. I've finished it once before, but had to start a new game when I got my new Macbook Pro. If you ever get a chance, download the demo or get a full copy somewhere. It also recently came out on the iPad as well.<br />
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_of_Warcraft"><br />
World of Warcraft</a>: I'm not a fan, but every time a new expansion pack comes out I'll play it for awhile, until I get bored at least. I'm waiting for Springy to get off his lazy butt and come play with me, because romperstomping on my Worgen Hunter solo gets old after awhile. I'm usually retarded at the game, and suck at finding people to party with.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Sims_3">The Sims 3</a>: I've never been able to play this before, my older Mac wouldn't run it. It's a pretty decent game but I already own the console version which is identical to the Mac and PC version, sans all the expansion packs and player made mods that you can download online.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spore_%282008_video_game%29">Spore</a>: It was in the bargain bin at EB Games so I had to grab a copy. All the expansions, which are very few compared to The Sims, were also in the bargain bin. It's a pretty decent game and runs natively on the Mac just like the others I've listed.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://www.lexulous.com/">Lexulous</a>: Springy kicked my ass recently, and it was an amazing word too. We try to play a few games a week but he gets bored, there's only so much NOT SCRABBLE that he can play. Whereas I could go on for hours. It's all about stamina! Anyway, the hilarious screenshot of his victory can be found <a href="http://i21.photobucket.com/albums/b266/ddrboy54/didIwin.jpg">here</a>. It does have a curse word in it though, so don't click if you're sensitive to that kind of thing.<br />
<br />
Have a great Christmas, everyone. Being from Australia, mine is already over. Thankfully the hangover's gone too!<br />

(Part 2)I was going to something different for part 2, but with the holidays so close I've been busy. So instead I am doing what was supposed to be part 3, now. This is going to cover random tidbits of HTLM and gadgets that can make organizing your layout a bit easier and make things look nice.<br />
<br />
Before that though, <a href="http://vote-sanchez.com/" target="new">SuciƓ Sanchez</a> recommended using <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/home" target="new">Picasaweb</a> to add tags to your images that you've uploaded to your blog so that search engines pick them up easier. I had no idea Google had it's own image hosting and it automatically adds your blog uploads for you. You can sign in and start adding tags right away. Thanks Sucio!<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<b>BEFORE EDITING ANY HTLM, ALWAYS SAVE YOUR TEMPLATE</b><br />
<br />
<u><b>Comment Plugin</b></u><br />
The comment form I use is provided by <a href="http://www.intensedebate.com/" target="new">IntenseDebate</a>. The website as a super easy one-two-three step installation so I won't be explaining how to use them. Instead I will list the pros and cons of using it.<br />
<br />
The comment form looks a lot better than Blogger's default comments. Other than looking pretty, it makes a few things easier. First off is the reply option. I don't think it need much explaining, it makes communicating a bit easier. It also lets anyone post a comment with a unique user name without doing any registering, instead of needing a Google or Blogger ID. If you're registered, it will send you emails anytime someone replies to one of your comments or when someone posted a comment on your blog that needs moderation. It also lets you approve or delete comments by responding via email. It's pretty handy. You have more moderation options too, it allows you to delete, censor, or change their ID to Lt.Manlove.<br />
<br />
The downside to it is it makes regular Blogger users enter a bit of information instead of being able to post with their normal Blogger ID. They also have to sign up with IntenseDebate if they want a picture to show and to avoid typing their information each time they comment.<br />
<br />
I choose to use it because it lets me communicate easier with the readers and other Bloggers who use the plugin.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Statcounter</b></u><br />
<a href="http://statcounter.com/" target="new">Statcounter</a> is a website that can track the stats of your webpage. You sign up and add a piece of HTLM to your blog and it start keeping track of all the people who visit, how they got there, their view paths, IPs, and location. It also keeps a list of every search that's lead to someone clicking your site and displays their percentages.<br />
<br />
Statcounter will keep track of 500 entries at a time for free. After it's full, it will drop the oldest one when new hits come. You can upgrade the amount of hits it stores as cheaply as 5USD a month for an extra 5000. This is a must have in my opinion, it's MUCH better than Blogger's built in tracker and Google Analysis.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Hiding parts of your post on the main page</b></u><br />
Ever wish you could post something in a post that wouldn't show up on the main page with the rest of everything? Say you have a footer you want shown after each post or an ad you want shown. Well, you can.<br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 5px 20px 20px;"><pre class="alt2" dir="ltr" style="border: 1px inset; height: 25px; margin: 0px; overflow: auto; padding: 6px; text-align: left; width: 525px;"><b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == "item"'> CODE </b:if></pre></div>Just replace CODE with what you want to hide. You want to place this right above your </body> tag. This is how I have Linkwithin only showing on my posts' links and not on the mainpage. Note that it's not post specific, whatever you put there will show up at the end of everyone of your posts.<br />
<br />
<u><b>How to hide the EDIT icons</b></u><br />
You know those annoying ratchet and screwdriver icons that show up when you look at your own blog? You can hide them with this.<br />
<br />
<a href="javascript:var%20a=document.getElementsByTagName('a');for(var%20i=0;i<a.length;i++){var%20c=a[i].className;if%20(c=='quickedit'){void(a[i].style.display=a[i].style.display!='none'?'none':'')}}">CODE</a><br />
<br />
Right click that link to view the code, it was too long to post. Make a bookmark of that and put it on your bookmark bar. You can click it and it will hide the icons.<br />
<br />
<u><b>How to make your post title show first on searches</b></u><br />
By default, your blog shows up on searches engines blog title first. This isn't exactly bad, but there's a better way to have it shown. You want the content of the search shown first, then the title. It makes it easier for searches to know that it's exactly what they're looking for. Take this for example. If you were searching for a review of Aidyn Chronicles, which would catch your eye first? <br />
<br />
D20+1: Life of a gamer: <b>[Review] Aidyn Chronicles</b>: The First Mage<br />
VS<br />
<b>[Review] Aidyn Chronicles</b>: The First Mage: D20+1: Life of a gamer <br />
<br />
See? To change it, you want to find this tag<br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 5px 20px 20px;"><pre class="alt2" dir="ltr" style="border: 1px inset; height: 25px; margin: 0px; overflow: auto; padding: 6px; text-align: left; width: 525px;"><title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title></pre></div>and replace it with this tag<br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 5px 20px 20px;"><pre class="alt2" dir="ltr" style="border: 1px inset; height: 115px; margin: 0px; overflow: auto; padding: 6px; text-align: left; width: 525px;"><b:if cond='data:blog.pageType == &quot;index&quot;'>
<title><data:blog.pageTitle/></title>
<b:else/>
<title><data:blog.pageName/> ~ <data:<a class="linkification-ext" href="http://blog.title/" title="Linkification: http://blog.title/">blog.title/</a>></title>
</b:if></pre></div>And there you have it.<br />
<br />
<u><b>How to make the textareas I just used.</b></u><br />
<br />
<div style="margin: 5px 20px 20px;"><pre class="alt2" dir="ltr" style="border: 1px inset; height: 135px; margin: 0px; overflow: auto; padding: 6px; text-align: left; width: 525px;"><td class="smallfont">
<div style="margin: 5px 20px 20px;">
<pre class="alt2" dir="ltr" style="border: 1px inset ; margin: 0px; padding: 6px; overflow: auto; width: 525px; height: 25px; text-align: left;">YOUR_TEXT_HERE</pre>
</div>
</td></pre></div>You can control the size by changing the width and height pixels.<br />
<br />
That took longer to type than I thought it would. My next post won't be until after Christmas. I hope you all have a great one! :D<br />

(Part 1)This will be a fairly long entry of random things I wish I knew when I first started blogging. Since half my blog readers are bloggers themselves I figured I'd try to share the things that have helped me. A lot of it seem like basic "duh" things, but some won't. I think I managed to split everything I have to say into three parts; Tips on getting your blog noticed, Tips on advertising on your blog, and random stuff.<br />
<br />
This first topic will focus on getting your blog noticed.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<u><b>Submit your blog to search engines</b></u><br />
This is the most important thing to getting your blog noticed by people, and probably the most obvious thing. Blogger prompts you to submit your URL to Google when you sign up, which is good. But you want to submit your site to as many search engines as possible. Google is the most used but Yahoo, MSN and Ask are also fairly popular. For the longest time I only had my blog submitted to Google, but after it dawned on me to use other engines, I started getting extra traffic.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Submit your blog to Blog Networks.</b></u><br />
Blog networks are sites that have lists of blogs, sorted by category and rank. Needless to say, you want your blog listed on as many of them as possible. <a href="http://technorati.com/" target="new">Technorati</a> is probably the biggest and well known. Even though it seems dead, it still takes new blogs and it's ranking system works. (Seriously, is it abandoned? Half their pages have had "coming soon" for months)<br />
<br />
The more networks you can add your blog to the better. <br />
<br />
<u><b>Ping your Blog</b></u><br />
Some engines and blog networks don't automatically crawl sites for new content. If you haven't already, use <a href="http://pingomatic.com/" target="new">this</a> site to ping your blog and reping it every time you update. This will get your new content noticed.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Link similar articles</b></u><br />
Nobody is going to search your entire blog history for things they want to read. A person finding your blog from Google is going to most likely leave as soon as he reads the article related to his search. A good way to keep this person at your blog a bit longer is to link any similar articles. So someone found your review of Superawesomegame, chances are he'd be interested in your review of Superawesome2 as well. So add a link to each of the posts linking each other and BAM. You've potentially doubled the amount of page views each one will get. I use <a href="http://www.linkwithin.com/learn" target="new">Linkwithin</a> to link similar pages that have common tags, it's a good way to advertise similar pages that might not be directly related. Linkwithin even has it's own redirect URL, so you'll be able to track how many people click it to read another story. You can find an example of how it looks at the bottom of this post.<br />
<br />
This really does work. Ever go to Cracked and read an article and at the end you see a similar one recommended? So you click to read that one and before you know it, it's been an hour and you have 6 tabs open. Same thing.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Make your titles match your key words.</b></u><br />
People read the titles first when searching. They might want to read your post about fluffy awesome cats, but if you title doesn't say anything about cats, then it will probably be overlooked for one that does despite being exactly what they were looking for.<br />
<br />
A personal example of mine would be my Monday posts. I talk about random things, but the title never reflects it. Like in a post I talked about Super Tofu Boy, that article never gets keyword hits from "Super Tofu Boy" even though it shows up in the search. (Although the image does)<br />
<br />
<u><b>Force off-site links to open in new tabs. </b></u><br />
Don't trust readers to come back to your blog after you've linked them else where. Chances are they'll get into whatever you linked them and forget about your page completely.<br />
<br />
A link's HTLM looks like this.<br />
<br />
<a href="<a class="linkification-ext" href="http://website.com/" title="Linkification: http://WEBSITE.com/">http://WEBSITE.com/</a>">DISPLAYED TEXT</a><br />
<br />
If you add ( target="new") with out the parentheses to the end of the URL it will make automatically open in a new tab. Like this.<br />
<br />
<a href="<a class="linkification-ext" href="http://website.com/" title="Linkification: http://WEBSITE.com/">http://WEBSITE.com/</a>" target="new">DISPLAYED TEXT</a> <br />
<br />
<br />
This is a bit longer than I thought it would be. Hopefully it helps you out. I'll try to post part 2 before Christmas.<br />
<br />
If you know any good stuff that I missed, post it below. I'll either edit the article or add in to the text one, and give you credit and a link to your blog.<br />

This week's title is brought to you by <a href="http://safevideogames.blogspot.com/" target="new">The Game Store Guy</a>. Again, slightly different so I cannot be sued for royalties later. I should really come up with a catchy name so I can make an icon for it or something.<br />
<br />
Speaking of that, I got a new banner a few days ago. Pixel made it for me. :D She also made the banners inside each of our posts that identify the author. The blog get's slightly less ghetto each day!<br />
<br />
We made a page about us! It's been up in the bar for a while now. You should go read it <a href="http://springy-b.blogspot.com/p/meet-authors.html" target="new">here</a>. Really go do it. <br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
I had some awesome ideas for later on in case I ever get super popular. I wanna sell 20 sided dice, except they're printed with 2-21, because they're +1. Get it? You can roll a natural 21 AND deal one more damage when you throw them at your DM for being a dick. (Stop hiding the rolls, there's no way I can fail THAT many spot checks.) I could sell a few I think.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTjSz0F5f27BSsHP5pu_L2u6Yx3wsKbi1Xh_Hmr9p_VmUJV5mKUje3ao0F-crIKZFeL1ohG56vFa2G6vxpPofJk4c9hgy7QA_9FthBQ4L8viWtVe_rz7DGDHGil8jWmbcoFSWCp6asWJqL/s1600/magicmissiletshirt.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="149" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgTjSz0F5f27BSsHP5pu_L2u6Yx3wsKbi1Xh_Hmr9p_VmUJV5mKUje3ao0F-crIKZFeL1ohG56vFa2G6vxpPofJk4c9hgy7QA_9FthBQ4L8viWtVe_rz7DGDHGil8jWmbcoFSWCp6asWJqL/s200/magicmissiletshirt.JPG" width="200" /></a></div>Also check out this T shirt idea. It's only in it's rough design but I think it looks awesome considering I made it in MSpaint. It's right there! >>>><br />
<br />
You'd buy it, don't deny... I'd buy it. I hope no one tries to steal my design before I have to chance to raise my blog to a million hits a day in order to sell these. I don't think MSpainting a copyright will stand up in court, especially since I was drunk and spelled it Copywrite. Hmm...<br />
<br />
Now for the stuff people actually want to read. No, I'm not linking another website. wtf?<br />
<br />
Actually I don't have any small random gaming content this week, instead I'll give you a preview for what's coming for later on this week. These will be -my- only up coming posts until after Christmas. <br />
<br />
<b><u>[Review]Amnesia: The Dark Decent</u></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxCE8So0GXde0Y8N2Mg8mpiHueUX2VrN4hIaGV15g-1RoNcs2MlHoyVhC8vMQAtULzL8MxvDapSj-cPLqQD6VY-Z3ZqIStkWyQ_FmKAPRIjPIrcdp3pHH5n_kQj5iBdfgvr5YiSn3pFeYc/s1600/Amneisa_boxart.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjxCE8So0GXde0Y8N2Mg8mpiHueUX2VrN4hIaGV15g-1RoNcs2MlHoyVhC8vMQAtULzL8MxvDapSj-cPLqQD6VY-Z3ZqIStkWyQ_FmKAPRIjPIrcdp3pHH5n_kQj5iBdfgvr5YiSn3pFeYc/s200/Amneisa_boxart.jpg" width="141" /></a></div>I've played Silent Hill, I've played Siren, I've played Thief 3, I've played F.E.A.R, and I've played Condemned. I thought I was past the point of where video games could scare me, and this game did. And I don't mean "jumpy" or "startling", I mean outright scary. It keeps you on edge the entire game and does a very good job of never letting you feel "safe".<br />
<br />
This took me a while to beat because I could only handle playing it 30-40minutes at a time, and a lot of that time was spent hiding. D: This game really made me feel like a pansy. If you're into scary games and wanna give this a try before I review it, you can get the demo of the game for free <a href="http://www.amnesiagame.com/#demo" target="new">here</a>. It's for PC and Mac and has low system requirements.<br />
<br />
Holy shit, a game that runs on Mac? <br />
<br />
<u><b>Things I wish I knew when I first started Blogging</b></u><br />
This will be a fairly long entry of random things I wish I knew when I first started blogging. Since half my blog readers are bloggers themselves I figured I'd try to share the things that have helped me. There's not much else I can say about it really. What a lame Monday Update :( Except for the T shirt, that thing is awesome, right? <br />

As an Assassins Creed 2 and Assassins Creed: Brotherhood fan, this series really interests me. It seems that it's going to be done in a very similar fashion to Rome, if you've ever seen that groundbreaking series based on Julius Caesar and his nephew, Octavian.<br /><br />Apparently it stars Oscar winning actor, Jeremy Irons stars as the manipulative and cruel Rodrigo Borgia and his quest for Pope. I doubt you'll be seeing any of Ezio in the series, but I'm interested in seeing if Caterina Sforza appears and if so, how she's portrayed. This also makes me wonder if the show's creators were fans of Assassins Creed 2, or if it was just a coincidence.<br /><br />From what I've seen of the trailer, the series also seems to have the older brother of Cesare Borgio who was not seen in Assassins Creed: Brotherhood and it was suspected that Cesare murdered him. I'll be interested in seeing how they go about presenting this series.<br />You can watch the trailer for the new '<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58hmD2sGV7Q&feature=player_embedded">The Borgias</a>' at the link below.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=58hmD2sGV7Q&feature=player_embedded">'The Borgias' on Youtube.</a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://killthepixie.blogspot.com/"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 54px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjOyvA0PLMYy5natRtXJ2q-YegkicCr5lR72IeHOQhi9TQN1nkVb8BDdMaRRPbG4-HROQVtsGKviYGk6CvJU6TOfR-bsMoUYcx08QDpFfhqCB8Mb3eft7Ke78rYEsQiNwnKZViwI6nvgG4/s320/pixel.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5554400413022555634" border="0" /></a><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhJci_FlYjFpKiZ6dO_ahebLTVAKvTCNaGU-FkYXhVbJcIHOINPUvnLK-uNi6oo9qS5yyOTp2Vw0jXrbaxKQq4ZqlTjqJYVgO0JNNB7XXAt2ehH3ct9EvP8ErDfzwmJnk7t64HMae3Ufqw/s1600/header.jpg"><br /></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5390020861715664351.post-70083495721959750482010-12-18T03:48:00.000-08:002010-12-20T22:13:44.995-08:00GSL 3 Final Match Results.<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN67bPO87DBwGxrk5p4xziVD3qSkgeGRIO4mApyf3wuwE0xFGNVVLtnJWu9yUREwpL-ry4j3VWgQMgk0gq-h20Yl4Ru1CJv4o1Tt0qMUksqO0Sb10TjiCeLeSOLBusZfBJHg9FKaIBWnKE/s1600/GSL+Logo.png" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgN67bPO87DBwGxrk5p4xziVD3qSkgeGRIO4mApyf3wuwE0xFGNVVLtnJWu9yUREwpL-ry4j3VWgQMgk0gq-h20Yl4Ru1CJv4o1Tt0qMUksqO0Sb10TjiCeLeSOLBusZfBJHg9FKaIBWnKE/s1600/GSL+Logo.png" /></a></div><br />

Round 3: TSL_Rain<br />
Round 4: oGsMC<br />
Round 5: oGsMC<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<ul><li><u>Round 1:</u> Rain tried a one base all in. MC easily defends by using phoenix to pick up siege tanks while his immortals broke down the bunker contain. After losing his initial army, Rain rebuilds and tries another push but loses and GGs.</li>
<li><u>Round 2:</u> MC opened up many tech paths early on off one base. Rain bunker contained MC is his base but MC was able to distract Rain with Dark Templar drops long enough to get enough immortals to break out. The Dark Templar drops and Collossus + High Templar armies proved too much for Rain, and he GGs.</li>
<li><u>Round 3:</u> MC scouted Rain early and saw a two Barracks opening. After killing the probe, Rain cancels his Barracks and went for a Banshee rush which catches MC off guard. After holding off the banshees, MC holds against a number of Rain's pushes, and eventually builds up enough units to counter attack, but loses his army and GGs</li>
<li><u>Round 4:</u> MC proxy Pylons and builds a Gateway inside Rain's base at 8 supply. The early Zealots kill many SCVs but Rain manages to hold out until MC brings in his first Stalker. The marauder can no longer kite and is killed, and Rain GGs. </li>
<li><u>Round 5:</u> MC goes for a 4 Gateway early push at the same time Rain goes for a blue flame Hellion drop. Rain kills off almost all of MC's Probes, but MC's force is too much for Rain to handle and GGs. Rain may have given up early because he could have lifted his Command Center up and killed off the remaining Probes with his Helions, forcing a draw.</li>
</ul>Welp, that's it! This was the last GSL tournament of 2010. The next season date hasn't been announced yet, so be sure to stay updated because they tend to move quickly. Hope you all enjoyed it.<br />

EA Games has officially dropped the price of almost every one of their games down to 0.99USD to celebrate the holidays, and that's over seventy games! If you haven't logged into the iTunes app store within the last few days then you might want to go take a glance while you still can, because with the games usually costing between 5-10USD this is one hell of bargain. In this entry I'll be listing my five favorite iPad games currently on sale from EA, in no particular order. You can also click on their images to be taken directly to EA Games' game info page.<br />
<a name='more'></a><br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Bog</span><span style="font-weight: bold;">gle</span><a href="http://www.ea.com/games/boggle-ipad"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551762218229138498" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEid6RF-VgmZHvvnGYUc0YTpaaj77lxOrhqZpEmGgkwWZ1rPCh4XayZG0yXi2w4QuBPVAp1GPpIOre3D3G5ionBsqddhjluUX05uWSeeaWsFOAMXShL7Pr0tqGR9TEfILuxiQEnxe5NAgus/s320/boggle.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 127px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 86px;" /></a><br />
If you're a fan of time based word games then this one's for you. The aim of the game is to find as many words as you can before the timer runs out. It keeps as close to traditional Boggle as possible.<br />
<br />
"Go head-to-head with Pass 'n Play, or email friends and challenge them to a word duel! Try Challenge Mode, Advanced Mode, or make your own rules in Self-Score Mode."<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Sc</span><span style="font-weight: bold;">rabb</span><a href="http://www.ea.com/games/scrabble-ipad"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551762544856897234" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjNoyUe9NhyphenhyphenX1X7VcPHs3m0TPNKjgcUVOWt0uHDb6pmjgKn10jG0oIU1v0Hj6PMnLc-6rjQaKTeJ5B-SyTlnoISie1veSnhwmR0JaY-OHJ3DDrMON2XIpeXcJubt541I3CsEJ0OwcRFiRc/s320/scrabble.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 127px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 86px;" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">le</span><br />
I'm a fan of word games, what can I say? The official Scrabble game is one of the best word games out on iPad. The game is self-explanatory and keeps as close to traditional Scrabble as possible.<br />
<br />
"Challenge friends, anytime, anywhere. Connect with friends on FacebookĀ® and play up to 25 games at a time, square off via Pass N' Play, or Local Network Play. Try the iPad exclusive Party Play mode, too."<br />
<br />
<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Y</span><span style="font-weight: bold;">ahtz</span><a href="http://www.ea.com/games/yahtzee-ipad"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551763720119745042" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhkHrZfLaBEVDJpJalsaUrT9AXDwYc_UXPW5rqgTjCVra1aLfixTnAbroZIaj7mLt9ELvjhjk5ta4qmbgV1hGIkLC1sScZL1fYNnEiGBGKCKdcD_HT0CMrevQRfvZYR-1U3EdIFfVVgdaU/s320/yahtzee.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 127px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 86px;" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">ee</span><br />
This version of Yahtzee was very interesting compared to most others. It features several different gameplay styles and even an adventure mode. The scoring is identical to traditional Yahtzee, but the gameplay itself is a different experience.<br />
<br />
"Try your luck in a number of modes, including head-to-head in Duplicate Rainbow Mode ā an iPad exclusive! Shake it with family and friends. Connect via Facebook and post high scores and issue friendly challenges. Keep that social touch that's always been a part of the fun of playing YAHTZEE!"<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Tetri</span><a href="http://www.ea.com/games/tetris-ipad"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551764229812502850" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiq2YgSUkyxBnbSxp2xnIyAv74_t9mR6e2I4W2rsy2JPLYRCeDmqUvoWBZj1ALVSd82lF_FF-vrojKHn7kWLSYsIgpa8Kq_mYoUFPsfMaBLpccjJD-1LbAkEbyQcKlriGKZf65VPwne3S8/s320/tetris.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 127px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 86px;" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;">s</span><br />
Everybody loves Tetris, right? This is one of the best adaptations of the game that I've come across, with traditional Tetris gameplay as well as Tetris 'magic', a version of Tetris where you have tools at your disposal to alter the Tetris blocks.<br />
<br />
"Bolder, brighter HD graphics, with all-new intuitive controls and features ā this TETRISĀ® game is unlike any you've played before. It's an absolute iPad essential."<br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;"><br />
</span><br />
<span style="font-weight: bold;">Sim</span><a href="http://www.ea.com/games/simcity-deluxe-ipad"><img alt="" border="0" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551764753719868162" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi89_YSn8GCKbpE51n50uETbesoMDMsaHgU32yO84HV8xmHUaBy6ogA1VuUj1NytLUJojobBTuHtAQBMII4maUnVfbk6bStkOxtyZXmxSzaWzOmM1jgi5710lzWC5o4xBUARv9CmfmH59g/s320/simcity.jpg" style="cursor: pointer; float: left; height: 127px; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; width: 86px;" /></a><span style="font-weight: bold;"> City De</span><span style="font-weight: bold;">luxe</span><br />
I was surprised that EA Games knocked this game down in price as it had only recently been released. I've been playing this one a fair bit and it's pretty complex, and stays true to traditional Sim City.<br />
<br />
"The HD-quality graphics and realistic animation provide vividly textured terrain that you'll want to reach out and touch. Easily "fingerpaint" masses of trees, water, and land with a simple swipe of your finger."<br />
<br />
<br />
Also on iPad for the low price of 0.99USD are Need for Speed Hot Pursuit, Snood, Pictureka, CLUE: Secrets & Spies, Reckless Racing, Madden NFL 11, Command and Conquer Red Alert, Mirror's Edge and Need for Speed Shift. Remember, these are only the iPad games that are on sale. There are still dozens of iPhone games on sale from EA Games so run in and grab them while you can!<br />

He's fit with his own move sets and fatalities, and comes with a God of War themed stage. He's been announced as PS3 exclusive and it's unknown yet if Xbox will have it's own unique character.<br />
<br />
You can watch the <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tt05QoHNeow" target="new">trailer</a> here<br />
<br />
As for the game itself, it takes place after Mortal Kombat Armageddon and during the time period of the first three games, although with a different scenario. It will feature 3D graphics but play on a 2D plane. It's rated M and be available on the PS3 and Xbox360 with PC as a possibility.<br />
<br />
Mortal Kombat plans to hit stores April 2011.<br />

And unless you're lichen then that isn't terribly healthy. But I'll explain what it is just for those potentially unhealthy lichen-humanoid hybrids that could inhabit the internet. There are a lot of weirdos on the internet nowadays, after all.<br /><br />Chances are that you might know Lexulous by its former name, Scrabulous. It's a neat little online game that's not unlike Scrabble, with its own community website. The game was added to Facebook as an application way back in 2007 and quickly became the most popular game on Facebook. Then in 2008 it got taken off Facebook and the website was shut down due to copyright infringement laws. Yup. Hasbro, the owners of Scrabble, were pretty much pissed. This was probably because they didn't think of the idea themselves, as they were too busy making twenty million retarded variations of Monopoly that nobody cares about.<br /><br />Anyway, later that year Scrabulous won back its rights to keep the game if it changed the rules and its name. Thus Scrabulous became Lexulous and returned to Facebook as one of the most popular and more mentally stimulating games available. Now you can even play it on most phones, including the iPhone! There's no Droid support yet though, and the iPad runs it in iPhone view but the chances are that they'll pick up on that and make updates and changes soon.<br /><br />So if you're after a good old fashioned word game, or some poor soul to terrorize with vicious winning streaks, then check out the links below.<br /><br /><a href="http://www.lexulous.com/">Lexulous community site</a><br /><br /><a href="http://apps.facebook.com/lexulous/">Lexulous on Facebook</a><br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://killthepixie.blogspot.com/"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 54px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgntV8h2T17T85K1MeSw7CJ6O1S5DJdb_GCjy0z8XrQKw5Rxq8dcnAvzTOrDraNkmAFyoFX6vSx8l2f90luxf3BsmODmg7KplDl6LtfsT-3A9Ks8S5OiylqL8VdNYPPxUJ4ImHeD_HIzfY/s320/header.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5551772525221681314" border="0" /></a>Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5390020861715664351.post-91245445490356786322010-12-14T23:44:00.000-08:002010-12-17T14:17:04.228-08:00Follow the Pixels<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://killthepixie.blogspot.com/"><img style="float: left; margin: 0pt 10px 10px 0pt; cursor: pointer; width: 150px; height: 150px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgB7gkq_Om0HJpqnB03b5yIbpthyS4XZ_URi9YKGvA-TjM9kL81vKzn_ZcJjVwT8yPdb1yjGyFq9DE3VhzRZEBv9yhNSHx9Hi5u-GQVQmofJqYgX77qMBJSaLDh-4huqrBHSybAHHXi0Oc/s320/pixie-ninja-girl-150x150.jpg" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5550816170923885858" border="0" /></a>Pixels represent many things in life but for the majority of us gamers they tend to represent the crappy graphics of yesterdecade versus the '1337' graphics of today. Unfortunately these were also some of the best games that were ever created, in a simpler time filled with simpler people and less demand. Nowadays it's all about who has the most pixels and the best graphics, most gaming companies don't give two tosses about the storyline or the length of the game.<br /><br />Hello, I'm Pixel and there's only one of me. Not even the <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magnavox_Odyssey">Magnavox Odyssey</a> could boast such limited pixels, even with its timeless classics like 'Win'. I'll be joining Springy-B in his journey through games and movies and other such crap that's semi-related. I'll be sticking to indie, retro and yesteryear's classics with a touch of mainstream thrown into the mix.<br /><br />If anyone has any suggestions, insults or ideas for articles then feel free to hurl them my way. Only one person answered so there is it. (Although slightly different so I cannot be sued later.) Still open for ideas though! SO POST SOME >:O<br />

I had an eventful week. If you've read the past few days you'd know I had a friend under go surgery. She's doing great except she keeps losing at online scrabble. She responded to you nice followers but it was buried by new posts, you can read it <a href="http://springy-b.blogspot.com/2010/12/thanks-to-everyone-that-left-kind-words.html#c5143576165019532608" target="new">here</a> if you missed it. <br />

<u><b>BlogWaveNet</b></u><br />
Blogwave is a podcast that talks about a lot of things that are helpful for bloggers. They share a bunch of helpful tips and hints that anyone serious about blogging should be interested in. My blog was featured on their latest cast, where they talked about my layouts and themes and gave feedback and called me a F.A.G. (which I can only imagine stands for Freaking Awesome Guy.) But seriously, they're hilarious, and they give genuinely useful advice. Definitely check them out if you haven't already. And even if you have, go check them out again. They've seriously earned more love than they get.<br />

<u><b>New Comment Form!</b></u><br />
So starting with this post on, I should have a new comment form set up. It looks a lot sexier than the default comment form. It's easy peasy to install too so I wanted to share it with everyone. You basically just go to <a href="http://www.intensedebate.com/" target="new">http://www.intensedebate.com/</a> and follow the 3 steps. It's that easy. The comment boxes use avatars from <a href="http://en.gravatar.com/" target="new">http://en.gravatar.com/</a> after you've added them to your blog.<br />
<br />
It makes replying and commenting a bit simpler. Hopefully this gets out more and people start using it, It'd would be cool to get everyone motivated to create an avatar. I think so anyways...<br />

Every year he does a Christmas special and he released his 2010 one a few days back. It's a bit different than his usual style but it's all good. It really impressed me and it's worth watching, go check it out <a href="http://www.cinemassacre.com/2010/12/08/avgn-episode-97-christmas-special-2010/" target="new">here</a>. <br />
<br />
He also released a sort of retrospect video that revisits each holiday special. There's no game review or anger here, just James looking back with not so find memories. You can check that out <a href="http://www.cinemassacre.com/2010/12/08/avgn-holiday-memories/" target="new">here</a>.<br />

A lot of the times the track is used in the game and then forgotten, wasting a ton of musical talent. So today I'd like to share some bands that dedicate their careers to recreating and playing video game sound tracks. This is my top 5 favorite video game bands.<br />
<br />
<u><b>#5: Power Glove</b></u><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXFlMg8KFHIJF-H7_hRkAeqTaB1fAAbuHkDSkxMToRL1xch8oZtzSPnFsJUx4mP_Aa2ffdgK_hz1JJqOSp2-ArbEAiThi8Imdn3mJCSs-hZJBFTkCGpe1K6orhVDonHm99afX7C2o865IB/s1600/Powerglove_band.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="173" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjXFlMg8KFHIJF-H7_hRkAeqTaB1fAAbuHkDSkxMToRL1xch8oZtzSPnFsJUx4mP_Aa2ffdgK_hz1JJqOSp2-ArbEAiThi8Imdn3mJCSs-hZJBFTkCGpe1K6orhVDonHm99afX7C2o865IB/s200/Powerglove_band.jpg" width="200" /></a>Everyone who's familiar with Nintendo knows the Powerglove and how <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KZErvASwdlU" target="new">it's so bad.</a> So it shouldn't be a surprise that this power metal band chose to name themselves after it. They're best known for playing classic Nintendo themes, but they also have branched out into cartoon theme songs such as The Simpons and Pokemon. To promote their band, the members created a video game of their own. You can find that <a href="http://www.vgmetal.com/" target="new">here.</a> Be warned though, the creators are a big fan of <a href="http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/NintendoHard" target="new">Nintendo Hard.</a><br />

<u><b>#4: The Black Mages</b></u><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLR8Hy-3n0hbi2DJq1PS9HyCVxUwxhtpfKtLDNMs1WE5fTPoeUOPM4L93fO3zJmCcE0_CRWj5WeXI13c-ukFJnXUjRxZGUwsas6-oNdaC9X4m8Tc67Z769bnSfi-Oiayc9DsSODAmEqVkv/s1600/The_Black_Mages_band.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiLR8Hy-3n0hbi2DJq1PS9HyCVxUwxhtpfKtLDNMs1WE5fTPoeUOPM4L93fO3zJmCcE0_CRWj5WeXI13c-ukFJnXUjRxZGUwsas6-oNdaC9X4m8Tc67Z769bnSfi-Oiayc9DsSODAmEqVkv/s320/The_Black_Mages_band.jpg" width="241" /></a>Probably the most well known of the list are The Black Mages. The Japanese instrumental rock band formed by <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nobuo_Uematsu" target="new">Nobuo Uematsu</a>, the composer for a majority of the Final Fantasy games. The band performed rock versions of popular Final Fantasy themes, including songs for the movie Advent Children. Their style is unique and I can't find a label for it. It sounds a lot like exactly what you'd expect a rock band and a live orchestra to sound like, except good. They sound amazing, and the only reason it isn't number one on this list is because they had no variety, they only played songs from Final Fantasy. Uematsu officially announced the band had disbanded on On August 7, 2010, which was a sad day for Uematsu fans.<br />

<u><b>#3: The Advantage </b></u><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9ltphpBWv-Co5mLEqRixkN3c1oviJWQjpUb8sQQN0TJ7KDxdlv1PE5URJIYs555_59tzIL72A9CX_BGGSEyfcCalXBXp6OKEIQb7L-4vPq_kZ_o8crMIbF-u5Sii2rvP7nDtw5exss-WJ/s1600/The_Advantage.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi9ltphpBWv-Co5mLEqRixkN3c1oviJWQjpUb8sQQN0TJ7KDxdlv1PE5URJIYs555_59tzIL72A9CX_BGGSEyfcCalXBXp6OKEIQb7L-4vPq_kZ_o8crMIbF-u5Sii2rvP7nDtw5exss-WJ/s200/The_Advantage.jpg" width="200" /></a>Another band named after a NES accessory. Less known than the previous two, this band only plays covers of old NES music but has done a wide range of games. Unlike the others, the mostly focus on replaying the song instead of remaking or restyling it. Their style of music changes with what song they're playing and stays as true to the theme of the original as possible. If you didn't know better, you'd think they wrote the songs and then they were later ported into the games. Their cover of the Ducktales moon theme is awesome. If you only listen to one song posted in this entry, make it that one.<br />

<u><b>#2: Minibosses</b></u><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3hWUi_nTQrephFevSRUCntY0_VyZfIVpCUyWzJb_qYQDSNXAbl-4ykQNQxAjc0p88J8hDf5_NyQfGiUWAAF7JfVWZtKwQ-3_RmyP38-UriBfpYozLYwy0XZKQFYtP8u-j9gJukGX8_TeX/s1600/Minibosses.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi3hWUi_nTQrephFevSRUCntY0_VyZfIVpCUyWzJb_qYQDSNXAbl-4ykQNQxAjc0p88J8hDf5_NyQfGiUWAAF7JfVWZtKwQ-3_RmyP38-UriBfpYozLYwy0XZKQFYtP8u-j9gJukGX8_TeX/s200/Minibosses.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>Next on the list we have Minibosses, which I personally think is the best named out of them all. They perform instrumental rock versions of classic games, and like The Advantage, most of their songs are from the NES. Unlike the others, the Minibosses also create medleys of entire game sound tracks. That's about it, don't let my lack of words fool you. These guys are awesome. Apparently, the internet likes crediting the Minibosses for songs they haven't done, so searching for music from these guys was a bit difficult.<br />

This list is supposed to be about video game bands but I made an exception. Djpretzel has remixed <a href="http://ocremix.org/artist/4279/djpretzel/remixes?&sort=&offset=0" target="new">over 70</a> video game songs, which is impressive on it's own. But he also created the web site <a href="http://ocremix.org/" target="new">OCremix</a>, where countless people upload their own remixes of video game music, people that would most likely be nameless or uncredited musicians on the internet. The range of games covered just by Djprezel is enough to make the list, but when you add in the community he's created, it really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone he takes number 1.<br />
<br />
If you're a gamer and for some reason you've never heard of this site, well consider this entry my personal Christmas gift to you. Also, another cool thing is I get to link directly to the download instead of youtube links! Just follow the link, click the download tab and pick a mirror.<br />

I plan on doing more personal top # list entries in the future depending on how well this one is received. Let me know what you think, and if you listened to the songs, what your favorite one is.<br />

<br />
<u><b>Day 2</b></u><br />
oGsMC [P] 4 v 0 LiquidJinro [T] : <b>oGsMC</b><br />
<br />
<ul><li>HongUnPrime and TSL_Rain both made a lot of mistakes this set and have been getting a lot of negative criticism.</li>
<li>The final match up will be Terran vs Protoss. This is the first time a Protoss has had a chance to win a GSL tournament.</li>
<li>Jinro, the only foreigner, was eliminated this round. He's the only non-korean to ever make it that far and is widely seen as the current best Terran player worldwide. </li>
<li>The prize money for this tournament are 100,000,000 KRW ($85,700USD) for the winner, 30,000,000 KRW ($25,700USD) for the runner up, 10,000,000 KRW ($8,600USD) for the two semifinalists, 4,000,000 KRW ($3,400USD) for the quarterfinalists, as well as lesser amounts for the Ro16, Ro32 and Ro64.<br />
</li>
</ul>Sigh. I kinda thought Jinro would lose this round but not 4 and 0. That's disappointing. MC vs Jinro should have been the final match up, Rain isn't anywhere near Jinro in skill. MC will win this GSL for sure.<br />
<br />
The finals will be streamed on Dec 18, 2010 2AMPST, 19:00 KST(GMT+9). Time is subject to change, as they often do with the final matches. He hit the level cap before I could even be bothered to write something about Cataclysm. That's a pretty...special, thing to accomplish. But the kicker is, he claims to have done so in the name of science.<br />
<br />
He transferred his famous character "Athenelol" to the Neptulon server and renamed himself "Forscience". The problem with that is Blizzard disables earning Feats of Strength for characters that transfer servers for 60 days, so he didn't receive the feat. The only proof is the screen shot and video evidence. Well and his <a href="http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/neptulon/forscience/simple%20">character armory</a>.<br />
<br />
So what's all this science stuff mentioned? I have no idea. It might be something or it might just be him trying to regain his lost e-fame.Watch his video for yourself.<br />

I just started using Google analysis but I wanted to see everything since I first started this blog. If anyone knows if there's a way to show it all, let me know.<br />

Woo! The matches literally just ended. I'm happy Jinro made it to the semi finals. A non Korean making it this far is amazing. It's 5AM here so this is my post for the day, I need to get some sleep.<br />
<br />
Oh and as always, you can watch the games live for free at <a href="http://www.gomtv.net/">www.gomtv.net</a>. If you've missed any of the matches it only costs 20USD for the season.SpringyBhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01418638560295776125noreply@blogger.com10tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5390020861715664351.post-27087997575966141772010-12-06T15:07:00.000-08:002010-12-13T03:58:27.175-08:00Another MondayI've had a lot of things to talk about but none of them really justified their own posts. I think I'll start using Mondays for all the random thoughts I had during the week. Maybe I should think of a catchy name for them. Like AWESOME SUPER MONDAY POST THAT ISN'T BORING AT ALL. I dunno, give me some ideas.<br />
<br />
We set up our Christmas tree this weekend. That was fun. I don't have pictures of it or I'd put some on here. That wouldn't have even taken up a line if I didn't add this sentence explaining it. Faking content ftw. <br />
<br />
Now for some sadz. "What sadz?" Yeah, sadz. For the longest time my older post about <a href="http://springy-b.blogspot.com/2010/11/krogoths-13-years-later-and-still.html">Krogoths</a> would show up on the first page of a google search. I got a decent amount of traffic for it. But now it doesn't anymore. Oh wells.<br />
<br />
I've been playing a lot of Dungeon and Dragons online lately. I never gave it a shot before because I assumed it would be horrible, but it's not. I plan on doing something about it this week so if that interests you stay tuned. Or browsed. Or whatever you'd say in that sense. <br />
<br />
Anyways, content time!<br />

<b><u>Robot Unicorn Attack</u></b><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihlKZplodPEdddW8hjIvOPAZVq6rpc2isPGjUjRbIcCvExUnbfXX9CBQAwnDnx8L1hcSJKzvjHdiCIGwrOxm_O6WVMw9_EopU92BeBesf3XfOv-V851za-EgkGgNkBFhb-Dzed9EGHPD4D/s1600/robot_unicorn_attack_christmas.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="132" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihlKZplodPEdddW8hjIvOPAZVq6rpc2isPGjUjRbIcCvExUnbfXX9CBQAwnDnx8L1hcSJKzvjHdiCIGwrOxm_O6WVMw9_EopU92BeBesf3XfOv-V851za-EgkGgNkBFhb-Dzed9EGHPD4D/s200/robot_unicorn_attack_christmas.jpg" width="200" /></a></div>First thing is Adult Swim put out another version of Robot Unicorn Attack. This time it's Christmas themed. Right now it's only on iPhone but I'd guess they'll put it on their website the same as they did with the Heavy Metal Version. The unicorn is dressed up as a reindeer with a super flamboyant sweater and weird Christmas themed music plays. It's really nothing different from before, but it's only 1.99USD. If you still haven't played it, you can always find the original <a href="http://games.adultswim.com/robot-unicorn-attack-twitchy-online-game.html">HERE</a> on Adult Swim.<br />

The second round is tonight at 3AM PST, 19:00 KST, GMT+9. I don't want to post the winners of the first set so early so I will make a post with the results after tomorrow. The first set was amazing and full of surprises. The outcome really surprised me. If you missed the free live stream it's worth the money to watch the recasts. Or you could find someone hosting the replays illegally BUT I IN NO WAY CONDONE IT AND I'M SERIOUS BECAUSE IT'S CAP LOCKED.<br />

<u><b>Super Tofu Boy</b></u><br />
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH8xgvnw_xAsw6ypz6bad-LOlZ6UW82AJX3uxPVnBs0V5LuBClpR1k9FfiGsrE7_qix7vjNiG-6AwUZdR93aCGT3omgrK6o7blkT9glEJozOvjY89RHx7S_OlBecSI1JHtunpCK0Mdvbtj/s1600/Super_tofu_boy.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="283" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiH8xgvnw_xAsw6ypz6bad-LOlZ6UW82AJX3uxPVnBs0V5LuBClpR1k9FfiGsrE7_qix7vjNiG-6AwUZdR93aCGT3omgrK6o7blkT9glEJozOvjY89RHx7S_OlBecSI1JHtunpCK0Mdvbtj/s320/Super_tofu_boy.JPG" width="320" /></a>I almost hate myself for doing this but it's popular enough that I feel like I should. PETA is usually known for making game parodies to promote themselves. Their recent one is a parody of Super Meat Boy called Super Tofu Boy. Go figure. You have to rescue animals from meat factories. Super original there PETA.<br />
<br />
The game is actually a bit difficult. If you've played Super Meat Boy or I Wanna be the Guy, you won't have problems with it. But if you aren't used to games designed to kill you then you'll probably lose and get frustrated. The background music is kinda cool but I'd never admit it. Wait shit. Anyways if you want to play it, fucking google it yourself. No way am I giving PETA traffic, no matter how small.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Gamefaqs: Game of the decade</b></u><br />
It's been doing on for a while, I probably should have mentioned it before now. It's too late to pick your brackets but you can still vote. As of right now it's Paper Mario vs Oblivion. The final bracket is pretty much filled with RPGs and Halo at this point. <strike>Halo being the only bad game to somehow make it through.</strike> Ignore that, I like having followers. Go vote at <a href="http://www.gamefaqs.com/">gamefaqs</a>, it's right on the front page and you don't even need an account to vote.<br />
